The Capitol Elements Original

This original ink and watercolor is #2 of 3 in a series commemorating the 50th Anniversary of the Hawaii State Capitol building and was selected for the Spring 2019 Hawaii Watercolor Society show. 

When the morning sun is low in the sky, the light reaches far into the recesses and highlights the architectural elements that reminds us of Hawaii's "open sea, open sky, open doorways, open arms and open hearts" the Governor Burns described during the dedication of the building in 1959.  Some of the architectural elements include the conical-shaped structure representing the islands rising out of the ocean and the concrete columns which are abstracted versions of palm trees.  

The image measures 7.5"x9.5" (8x10) and is framed in a white modern frame with a white 11"x14" mat.
